There?s No Lake (2010)
In the 10 years since the beginning of open cast works in Tomisławice near Konin, two thousand ponds have vanished. As a consequence of the drying out of the terrain by the Konin Brown Coal Mine, the lakes are drying up, farmers are seeing lower harvests, and whole quarters of forest are wasting away. The resorts in the Gnieźno Lakeland are also going bankrupt. The ecological catastrophe in Eastern Wielkopolska is progressing. In 2010, the “Konin” mine started another open cast working barely 5 kilometres from Lake Gopło.
The project has been created with funds from the Marshal of the Wielkopolski Province.
